Descripción - Cat Anderson was one of the greatest high note trumpeters of all time. He consistently played musical passages in the extreme upper register every night of his professional career from 1935 to 1981, most of it with the Duke Ellington Orchestra. He also played in the bands of Claude Hopkins, Erskine Hawkins and Lionel Hampton, as well as making several recordings under his own name. In 1971 he became a top call studio player in Los Angeles where he can be heard on many recordings, movie and television soundtracks. He could be seen and heard live in the bands of Bill Berry and Louis Bellson, along with doing clinics and playing festivals as a guest artist.Geoff Winstead is a professional musician in Southern California who first met Cat in 1971 as a high school student when Cat was a guest performer at a jazz festival. Geoff couldn’t believe what he was hearing and had to know how to play like that! After the concert he asked Cat if he gave lessons. Fortunately, he said yes! From that fateful evening Geoff began a great eight year relationship with Cat, who became his teacher, mentor, and close friend. He is one of less than 10 actual students that Cat took under his wing (paw?) and may be the only one who went through his entire “method” with him. This book is meant for the serious student, semi-pro or professional trumpet player who wants to increase range, consistency, stamina and power, which are constantly being expanded in today’s music. Every lesson has detailed instructions on how to approach each exercise, question and answer areas to help you where you may have problems, links to websites with other valuable information, including “The Science of Breath”, which was recommended by Maynard Ferguson in all of his clinics, and personal anecdotes about Cat.
